PTBA Quarterly

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) managed to record a net profit of IDR 1.4 trillion by the third quarter of 2025.

“PTBA posted a net profit of IDR 1.4 trillion and EBITDA of IDR 3.6 trillion, with an EBITDA margin of 11%,” said PTBA President Director, Arsal Ismail, quoted in an official statement, Friday (31/10).

Arsal Ismail said, amidst pressure on global coal prices which will continue to decline throughout 2025, PTBA has succeeded in maintaining solid operational performance and maintaining profitability through increasing cost efficiency and optimizing the domestic market portfolio.

“This is reflected in the positive growth in production and sales volumes, as well as realization capex “which supports the sustainability of operations and strategic logistics projects,” added Arsal.

A great achievement also occurred in the production segment where during these 9 months, PTBA’s coal production reached 35.895 million tons, up 9% compared to the same period last year which was only 32.970 million tons.

The coal sales volume reached 33.704 million tonnes, an increase of 8% compared to the same period last year which was only 31.277 million tonnes.

“PTBA recorded solid operational performance with YoY production growth of 9% which was also followed by an increase in sales realization of 8%,” he explained.

Even though operational performance has increased, the average selling price (ASP) fell by 6% in line with the downward trend in coal prices. It was recorded that the NCI index weakened by 22% and the ICI-3 fell by 16% on an annual basis (YoY).

Meanwhile, the realization of capital expenditure until the third quarter of 2025 reached 41% of the annual target, with a value of IDR 3.0 trillion.

The increase also occurred in the coal fulfillment segment for Domestic Market Obligation (DM0) and export volume. Over the three quarters, PTBA recorded a DMO of 18.824 million tonnes, an increase of 11% compared to the same period in 2024 which was only 16.982 million tonnes.

Meanwhile, export volume reached 14.879 million tonnes, up 4% compared to the same period last year which only reached 14.294 million tonnes.
