Jakarta, TAMBANG,- Pertamina Patra Niaga together with Indo Sino Oil and Gas (ISOG) signed a Natural Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) from the Karamba Field source in the Wain Working Area (WK). This activity was carried out at the Wisma Mulia SKK Migas Building, Jakarta, Monday (11/5). This collaboration is carried out to strengthen the reliability of refinery operations by meeting natural gas needs to support the energy processing process at the refinery.
The signing of the PJBG will support the operations of Refinery Unit V Balikpapan, one of Pertamina’s strategic refineries in East Kalimantan, including the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project. Through this collaboration, natural gas sourced from the Karamba WK Wain Field will be distributed until 2037 with distribution plans starting on May 28 2026.
Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Commercial Director, Erwin Suryadi, explained that this collaboration is a form of synergy between the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors in strengthening the national energy supply chain. According to him, natural gas supply support is an important factor in maintaining the reliability of refinery operations so that they are able to produce higher quality energy products for the community.
“This momentum is very valuable because it proves that collaboration between upstream and downstream is a necessity that must be built together. To produce low sulfur fuel products, reliable gas supply support is needed. Through this collaboration, we hope that Pertamina’s refineries will become stronger and be able to produce higher quality energy products for the community,” said Erwin.
On the same occasion, Deputy for Finance and Commercialization of SKK Migas, Desti Melani, also expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this collaboration. According to Desti, synergy between upstream oil and gas business actors and Pertamina Patra Niaga as the offtaker or absorber of gas production results is very important to support the optimization of national gas production.
“We hope that Pertamina, through Pertamina Patra Niaga, can absorb gas production optimally, including from WK Wain, so that it can support the lifting and state revenue targets in 2026. We also hope that all operational processes and efforts carried out with operators, in this case Indo Sino Oil and Gas, can run smoothly and be realized well with the support of all parties,” concluded Desti.
