RETTAR looks to take 3D spatial sensing in mines & stockyards to the next level

Date:

In the vast and complex landscape of mining and aggregate material stockyards and active mining operations, achieving efficient resource supervision and precise measurement is a long-standing industry challenge. Traditional methods are often hindered by low visibility, high labour costs, and data lag, making it difficult to meet the needs of modern dynamic material management. Beijing Rettar Technology Co Ltd (RETTAR) says that it is transforming these operations with the 3DPro2501 Laser Scanner, “bringing a new level of vitality to industrial monitoring.”

Active mining fronts and stockyards are at the core of resource extraction, where efficiency directly impacts safety and profitability. In these environments, heavy dust is a constant – especially during blasting or heavy machinery operations. “This poor visibility makes volume estimation and stockpile assessment extremely difficult. Conventional manual measurements are not only slow but often inaccurate due to environmental interference. As global regulations on resource management tighten, industries need a transition from static records to real-time dynamic monitoring.”

RETTAR, a leader in industrial digitalisation, developed the 3DPro2501 it says based on a deep understanding of mining conditions. “This high-precision system is engineered for anti-interference and rapid scanning, making it perfect for dust-heavy environments. The 3DPro2501 excels at stockpile measurement and post-blast evaluation. In mining, accurate volume data is the foundation of resource planning. Through high-resolution scanning and intelligent algorithms, the 3DPro2501 captures the precise distribution of ore and aggregates to calculate inventory changes in real-time. While traditional post-blast assessments can take hours, the 3DPro2501 generates detailed 3D point clouds in minutes, allowing managers to analyse blast effects and potential risks immediately. This speed significantly reduces downtime and optimises resource recovery.”

It argues that a differentiator is its ability to offer both LiDAR solutions like the 3DPro2501 but also radar options like the 3DPro2300. This allows RETTAR to provide it says the most effective silo or stockpile scanning solution regardless of material type or dust density. “The 3DPro2501 is more than a sensor; it supports cloud integration and visual analysis. It links seamlessly with existing mining management systems, providing historical reports that reveal trends and early warnings for issues like slope stability. This connectivity helps enterprises meet compliance requirements while providing the data needed for sustainable, ‘green’ mining operations.” The 3DPro2300 Radar Scanner features an internal 360° horizontal and ±90° tilt rotational structure, emitting 16,200 measurement signals for precise scanning.

Going forward, from an already strong presence in Asia to its rapid global expansion plans, RETTAR says it is committed to moving the industry from guessing to knowing. “We anticipate that the integration of AI with 3D spatial sensing will soon create self-optimising inventory ecosystems, leading the mining industry into a smarter, more autonomous future.”
