Grecian Magnesite adding battery Aramine L440B loader at Koutzi

Grecian Magnesite says a new equipment addition is expected to progressively help its Koutzi mine reach its ~50,000 t/year design capacity of pre-concentrated magnesite.

The company has strengthened its underground operations at Koutzi in Evia, Greece, with the addition of a fully electric, battery-powered Aramine L440B loader, complementing the existing L140B already in operation.

Cited key characteristics of the L440B include up to a 4.8 t loading capacity; 224 kWh battery pack with Quick Replacement System; ergonomic upgrades supporting higher operator efficiency; plus improved stability and tramming capacity The machine is fully electric and battery-powered with zero-emission during operation.

The miner said more updates will follow as the L440B arrives at the Koutzi mine and enters operation in January 2026 but describes it as a significant step forward in efficient and sustainable underground mining.Thank you to the Grecian Magnesite teams for their trust and commitment to sustainable, less-emission mining.
