Jakarta, MINE — Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Ditjen Gakkum) Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), is currently undergoing an institutional restructuring process after being officially formed as a new directorate within the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The Director General of Gakkum, Rilke Jeffri Huwae, explained that although it was still in the structuring stage, his party had started to formulate various law enforcement policies. The aim is to ensure that all sectors in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources have a strong legal basis in natural resource (SDA) governance.

“In principle, we want to ensure that every policy formulated is in line with legal norms and guarantees sovereignty and justice in the management of natural resources, especially in the mining sector such as PT Timah,” said Rilke in a hearing with Commission XII of the DPR RI, quoted on Thursday (13/11).

Apart from focusing on policy formulation, the Directorate General of Gakkum also strengthens coordination between law enforcement agencies. According to Rilke, cross-institutional collaboration is the key so that natural resource management can run transparently and fairly.

“As those responsible for managing natural resources, we continue to encourage law enforcement officials and related institutions to work together to ensure that natural resource management is carried out in a way that fulfills a sense of justice,” he said.

Regarding the PT Timah case, Rilke emphasized that the Directorate General of Gakkum continues to coordinate with various parties, including the Forest Area Enforcement and Control Task Force (PKH) and the Halilintar Task Force, which is currently controlling mining activities in forest areas.

“We provide support and are active partners in every law enforcement effort related to natural resource management,” he added.

Rilke also expressed his hope that the People’s Representative Council (DPR) would provide support for the process of establishing and strengthening the performance of the Directorate General of Gakkum. “We hope for support from the council members, especially in strengthening the institution and effectiveness of the Directorate General of Gakkum’s performance in the future,” he concluded.
