Caterpillar’s Rail division to join Resource Industries in January

Date:

Caterpillar Chief Executive Officer, Joe Creed, confirmed at the company’s 2025 Investor Day, held today, that the existing Rail division currently under the Energy & Transportation division will come into its Resource Industries division from January 1.

The change, which also saw the Energy & Transportation division renamed Power & Energy, will allow the Power & Energy division to focus on power and energy exclusively, Creed said.

He also indicated that there would be synergies to adding Rail, which includes the company’s Progress Rail subsidiary, to Resource Industries, talking up “common” components between the division’s existing mobile equipment and rail locomotives, plus shared customers and industry goals.

Denise Johnson, Group President of Resource Industries, is set to speak at the Investor Day later today, providing updates on the company’s:

  • Commercial Excellence: Increasing accountability through outcome-based solutions;
  • Advanced Technology: Accelerating autonomy adoption and new Precision Mining solutions; and;
  • Sustainable Solutions: Solving sustainability needs with individualised bridging solutions.
