Jakarta, TAMBANG, – PT Pertamina (Persero)’s sustainability ranking continues to increase. On December 31 2025, Pertamina received an increase in its ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) score from the ESG Risk Rating Institute Global Sustainalytics, to 23.1 (Medium Risk) from the previous 26.9 (Medium Risk) in 2024. A smaller assessment is better, because it indicates a lower level of risk.
Through this score, Pertamina succeeded in maintaining its position in the world’s number 1 ESG ranking in the Integrated Oil and Gas Sub-Industry, out of 56 other integrated oil and gas companies.
Pertamina is in the 11% of Integrated Oil and Gas Sub-Industry companies in the Medium Risk category, while 32% and 57% of companies in similar sub-industries are in the High Risk and Severe Risk categories.
PT Pertamina (Persero) Vice President Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, said that this ranking reflects Pertamina’s success in managing sustainability risks comprehensively, as well as reinforcing the company’s commitment to integrating sustainability or ESG principles in all its business lines.
“Recognition from international ESG institutions shows that Pertamina’s commitment to running a sustainable, responsible and environmentally friendly business continues to gain world trust,” said Baron.
Pertamina’s strengthening ESG performance is also reflected in the rankings of other global institutions. Based on MSCI ESG Rating data as of December 31 2025, Pertamina received a BBB rating, an increase from the BB rating obtained in 2024.
“The BBB rating that was successfully obtained further shows appreciation from official global institutions regarding Pertamina’s ESG performance. Pertamina’s achievements reflect a consistent sustainability trend,” explained Baron.
Apart from that, the CDP rating agency also gave a positive assessment of Pertamina’s environmental aspects. In 2025, Pertamina’s Water Security rating will increase to A- from B, which places Pertamina in the ‘Leadership’ category, where water management is considered to be above the industry average.
Meanwhile, the score for the Climate Change aspect remains at B, which indicates the ‘Management’ category.
“Pertamina is not only focused on business performance, but also on environmental management and mitigating the impact of climate change in a sustainable manner,” added Baron.
With the support of all stakeholders, Pertamina emphasizes its commitment to continue to improve the implementation of ESG as the main foundation for maintaining business resilience, creating long-term value, and supporting the sustainable energy transition.
“ESG is not just compliance, but is Pertamina’s core strategy in ensuring business sustainability and real contributions to society and the environment in the future,” stressed Baron.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition sector, is committed to supporting the 2060 Net Zero Emission target and continues to encourage programs that have a direct impact on the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
