Jakarta, MINE – PT Sanggar Sarana Baja (SSB), a subsidiary of PT ABM Investama Tbk (ABMM), is again presenting its flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, the Machining Development Program (MDP).

This program focuses on improving the skills of people around the company’s operational areas, especially in the field of machining processes, starting from the basic operation of lathes, to the operation of basic Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lathes with computer-based automatic systems for high precision.

SSB Director, Johan Budisusetija explained that holding MDP is not only to support business continuity, but is also a form of the company’s commitment to carrying out responsible business practices.

“The presence of this program is proof of our seriousness in creating a sustainable business. Through MDP, we want to play an active role in improving the quality of human resources in the area around the SSB site,” said SSB Director, Johan Budisusetija in an official statement, Monday (3/11).

In organizing the 2025 MDP, SSB collaborated with the Samarinda Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP), attended by 12 participants consisting of two people from Samarinda, four people from Balikpapan, two people from Sebamban, and four people from Sumbawa. The training will be held on 3-21 November 2025 at the Samarinda Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP).

Focusing on improving participants’ technical skills and work readiness, the training material provided consists of Basic Machining, Manual Milling Machining, to Basic CNC Lathe Machining. After that, there was a competency test for the participants which was facilitated by BPVP Samarinda with the Basic CNC Lathe scheme.

Head of the Samarinda Vocational and Productivity Training Center, Eka Cahyana Adi, added that this collaboration program is a form of support between the government through the Ministry of Manpower and industry in increasing workforce absorption capacity.

“We also hope that the participants can show their competence in terms of both technical and leadership skills, and always strive to be part of the solution to various challenges in the industrial world,” said Head of the Vocational and Productivity Training Center, Eka Cahyana Adi.

After completing the training stage, participants will proceed to the on-the-job training (OJT) or apprenticeship stage, which will be carried out in various SSB operational areas, namely in Samarinda, Balikpapan, Sebamban and Sumbawa. This apprenticeship program will run from the end of November 2025 to the end of January 2026.

The benefits of the apprenticeship program for participants are increasing real work experience, improving skills (hard skills and soft skills) and of course increasing job opportunities. This year, the MDP was also attended by female participants from Sumbawa, marking a step forward in encouraging gender equality in the engineering field which has been dominated by men.

“We open the widest opportunities for anyone regardless of gender or background. The principles of diversity and inclusiveness are part of our DNA as part of the ABM Group,” continued SSB Director, Johan Budisusetija.

President Director of ABM Group, Achmad Ananda Djajanegara, expressed his hope that this program would not only be a means of transferring knowledge, but also a forum for forming superior talents.

“Through learning that includes basic machining knowledge to direct practice in the field, participants are expected to gain real provisions to enter the world of work with confidence and high competence,” said Achmad Ananda Djajanegara.

Previously, a similar training program was successfully held in 2023 and 2024. At that time, participants were provided with various technical skills, such as Basic Welding, Portable Line Boring, Manual Lathe Machine, Manual Milling Machine, and CNC Lathe Machine. From the two training periods, around 83.5 percent of participants were successful in working at SSB.

Meanwhile, several other MDP graduates pursued careers in different paths, starting from becoming civil servants (PNS), opening their own repair shop, to joining other companies.

Through training programs like this, ABM Group shows its strong commitment to the world of education. For ABM Group, education is not just a social activity, but is a strategic step to create a sustainable business foundation.

This effort is a concrete manifestation that the company’s success is not only measured by business performance, but also by its contribution to educating and empowering society.
