NSW Approves Life Extension for Dartbrook

Date:

Dartbrook mineAustralian Pacific Coal Ltd. (APC) announced that the NSW Department of Planning and Environment approved the Dartbrook Modification 8, extending the underground mine’s operating life by six years, from 2027 to December 5, 2033.

Dartbrook is an unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) operation between Tetra Resources (20%) and Australian Pacific Coal (80%). Located in Australia’s Hunter Valley in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, the complex consists of an underground mine and a coal handling and preparation plant with a capacity of 6 million metric tons per year, and a rail that connects it to the largest coal export operation in the world.

APC appointed Dartbrook Operations Pty Ltd. to operate the complex, and it entered voluntary administration in July 2025. Despite financial issues, NSW granted a life extension for the operation to APC.
