Land of Spices, MINE – Through PT Star Wagen Indonesia (SWI), PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) officially launched a fleet of SANY SRT100S hybrid trucks in the operational area of PT Borneo Indobara (BIB), Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan.
The launch was carried out in series Ceremony of Electrification: Green Mining Realization which was held by BIB on 7–9 February 2026. This activity is an opportunity for industry players to showcase technological developments while strengthening collaboration in supporting the electrification of mining operations.
President Director of PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA), Joko Triraharjo, said that hybrid technology is now an important part of developing mining operations. For PPA, said Joko, electrification of the mining fleet has become a necessity.
“PPA sees the trend of electrification and hybrid technology as no longer a matter of the future, but as an operational need today. The presence of the SRT100S is proof of our commitment to provide transportation solutions that are more efficient, safe and environmentally friendly without sacrificing productivity,” said Joko, Monday (9/2).
The SANY HD Truck SRT100S, which is directly managed by SWI, was introduced as a new generation hybrid transport truck to support mining operations in Indonesia.
President Director of PT Star Wagen Indonesia (SWI), Fathul Muin, said that the SRT100S was developed as a solution that is ready to be implemented in the field.
“We present the SANY SRT100S as an applicable transition solution, so that mining operations can run more efficiently, safer and more adaptive to future technological developments,” said Fathul Muin on the same occasion.
The launch of the SRT100S is part of PPA’s steps in encouraging operational transformation towards more efficient, safe and sustainable mining practices, in line with the operational electrification program which continues to be developed within the BIB work environment.
The SANY SRT100S is the result of a collaboration between SWI and SANY which is designed as a transition solution towards the implementation of fully electric mining technology in the future. This unit was introduced to answer the needs of transportation operations which demand high productivity as well as energy efficiency.
Technically, the SANY SRT100S has a nominal carrying capacity of up to 95 tonnes with a vessel volume of up to 70 cubic meters, the largest in its class. This unit features hybrid diesel-electric technology which is equipped with a regenerative braking system to increase energy efficiency. The large torque electric motor also enables more responsive acceleration and better climbing ability in various working conditions.
In terms of safety, the SRT100S is equipped with a global standard FOPS/ROPS cabin to protect the operator. In addition, the electric retarder braking system and wet brake system are designed to maintain the stability and safety of the unit, especially when operating downhill with a full load.
Sustainability Appreciation
The steps taken by PT Borneo Indobara (BIB) together with PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) in presenting the electrification program for mining equipment and transportation received positive appreciation. The inauguration of this program, which coincides with BIB’s 20th anniversary, is considered to be an important momentum for the transformation of the mining industry towards more environmentally friendly and sustainable operations.
“We appreciate the inauguration of PT Borneo Indobara’s mining equipment and transportation electrification program which coincides with BIB’s birthday. This initiative is in line with Indonesia’s efforts to achieve the 2060 net zero emission target through mitigating greenhouse gas emissions,” said Director of Engineering and Environment, Directorate General of Mineral and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ahmad Syauqi.
According to him, amidst various industrial challenges, technological innovation is the key to encouraging the mining sector to become more efficient and sustainable. The implementation of electrification-based equipment is considered not only to improve operational performance, but also to be part of the real contribution of the business world in supporting the national decarbonization agenda.
“In the midst of challenges, technological innovation is the key to encouraging the mining industry to be more efficient and sustainable,” added Ahmad Syauqi.
President Director of PT Borneo Indobara (BIB), Bonifasius, emphasized that as one of the main players in the mining industry in Indonesia, BIB is in a strategic position while facing big challenges in the energy transition era.
“As one of the mining industry business players in Indonesia, PT BIB is in a very strategic position, while also facing challenges. Energy transition does not mean banning coal, but placing this sector in a gradual and just transition process,” said Boniface.
He explained, within this framework, mining operations are required to continue to transform. Reducing emissions, increasing efficiency and creating new added value is a necessity that mining companies must implement.
“This means that mining operations must be able to reduce emissions, increase efficiency and create new added value. In this context, electrification is a relevant and credible solution to be implemented at this time,” he stressed.
It is hoped that this collaboration between PPA and BIB will become an example for other industry players in accelerating the adoption of low-emission technology in the mining sector.
The use of hybrid technology on the SRT100S is claimed to be able to reduce diesel fuel consumption by up to 30 percent. This efficiency also has an impact on reducing maintenance costs, reducing downtime, and increasing overall operational efficiency.
As part of a series of activities, SANY SRT100S operational maintenance was also carried out in the BIB Site area on 7–17 February 2026. This demonstration provided a direct overview of the unit’s performance and the application of hybrid hauling technology to support cleaner and more sustainable mining operations.
