Through the IMPACT Program, Indika Successfully Rehabilitated 250 Ha of Mangrove Ecosystem

Jakarta, TAMBANG,- Investment company with a diversified business portfolio, PT Indika Energy Tbk. (INDY), officially closed the implementation of the Indika Energy Mangrove Program In Action (IMPACT) program in a closing ceremonial event in Tajur Village, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.

For your information, this program has been initiated since 2023 and has successfully achieved the target of rehabilitating a mangrove ecosystem covering an area of ​​250 hectares, with a total planting of 324,200 mangrove seedlings. This IMPACT program was initiated by Indika Energy in close collaboration with the Paser Regency Government and is fully supported by community groups. This program focuses on ecosystem rehabilitation, increasing carbon uptake, and protecting biodiversity in nine villages in Paser Regency.

The program closing report shows the progressive realization of rehabilitation from year to year. In the first year of implementation (2023), the program focuses on pilot projects and community capacity building. This first year successfully realized the planting of 35 hectares using 46,600 seeds. Furthermore, in the second year (2024), with the technical maturity that has been achieved, Indika Energy increases the scale to 115 hectares by planting a total of 141,100 seedlings. Finally, in this last year (2025), the remaining target was completed by realizing 100 hectares and planting 136,500 seedlings. Overall, the IMPACT program succeeded in rehabilitating a total of 250 hectares of land in nine beneficiary villages, namely Tajur, Baijaya, Riwang, Langgai, Seniung Jaya, Suliliran Baru, Laburan, Sungai Langir, and Lori.

In technical aspects, planting focuses on adaptive species such as Rhizophora Mucronata for its high adaptability and effectiveness in resisting abrasion, as well as Avicennia in coastal areas with higher salinity. The success of the program was also marked by the rediscovery of various endemic fauna such as long-tailed macaques, proboscis monkeys, macaques, and various types of birds. In line with this, Fahmi Fadli, Regent of Paser, highlighted the positive impact of the program on local community independence and regional government synergy.

This mangrove rehabilitation not only protects the environment, but also improves the welfare of coastal communities. The IMPACT program has provided ecological and socio-economic benefits for the Paser community, as well as empowering community groups to manage and monitor mangrove forests independently – ensuring that the benefits of this conservation can be sustainable for our area,” explained Fahmi.

The success of the IMPACT program is a strategic step in mitigating climate change and protecting biodiversity. Community-based planting has also built the capacity of local communities in managing mangrove ecosystems, transforming them from beneficiaries to independent conservation agents, while ensuring the sustainability of ecological and economic benefits for the Paser area.

This closing event was attended by the board of directors and commissioners of Indika Energy, the President Director of the subsidiary, as well as the ranks of Forkopimda, sub-district heads, village heads from 9 beneficiary villages, and community groups driving IMPACT.
